Comments : Well, this started out pretty simple. What I set out
to do was re-create and enhance DMWZ1 from my Unreal days. Basically take the
map, move some stuff around and maybe fix/add a few things. But this didn't
sit well with me and I didn't just want to transfer the map over verbatim. Sooo
I started from scratch. My intention then was to make the map very very
similar at least. Using the same layout. Nope. Eventually it mutated
and became much much bigger than DMWZ1 - Ruin. HOWEVER, I did use the same
basic flow as DMWZ1. Which is why this is called DM-WZ1][. Anyway, this
map let me do a lot of things I had been wondering about. Mainly reverb
zones and dynamic ambient sounds. I think I managed to add a bit of atmosphere
into this map without cluttering it. Also, this was the first time a skybox
truely came out right for me. I love night time skies and places...it allows
a mapper to fully use the vivarant colored lighting that is done so well
for the Unreal Engine.
I was surprised at the antics the bots pulled off on this map, and
they utilize it very well. Scared the hell out of me when a bot jumped
through a window from the outside to get at me. Or the time I was sniping
and a bot jumped down on me from behind from a place I did not expect.
Wow. I surprised myself on this one. I hope you enjoy it.
